French’s Saddlery

September 9, 2016

French’s Saddlery, originally named A French and Sons, has been serving the city of Cambridge for over a hundred years. Before they sold their vast range of horse riding equipment and feed, A French and Sons sold a range of produce, and farmed goods, even providing Trinity college with their weekly supply of potatoes!

After many years for A French& Sons, they decided to expand the business and branched out into Saddlery, repair and the sale of riding equipment.
In 2009 there was a change of management after the then owner, Karen, was taken ill. She stepped down as the owner of A French and Sons and handed the baton to Clive, an employee she had the pleasure of working with for over 20 years. Sadly Karen passed in 2014.

Under the new management there were a few changes to be made before the company becomes the business it is today.

The first of these changes was to move from the Gusto Mill into the building opposite.

The second change was the name, there wasn’t anything wrong with A French& Sons but the name no longer represented the business. The name became French’s Saddlery. A much more fitting name for the company.
French’s Saddlery went from a small local produce farm to an online retailer, with a history as rich as the city itself.
