The Gold Season of thoroughbred racing in Newmarket means the busiest time of year for the world’s oldest bloodstock auctioneers, Tattersalls.

Ever fancied going behind the scenes and gaining an exclusive insight into this notoriously secretive industry? Ever wanted to get right to the root of the UK’s second biggest spectator sport?

Discover Newmarket is offering the opportunity to do just that, with its Tattersalls Tour. Enjoy exclusive access to Europe’s largest bloodstock auction house and soak up the buzz inside its legendary sales ring as some of the world’s most influential owners and trainers bid hundreds of thousands of guineas for the equine stars of tomorrow! Not only that, but an experienced guide will be on hand throughout to provide expert advice on how to spot a future champion.

Tours operate on various dates throughout the October Yearling Sales, Autumn Horses in Training Sale, December Foal Sale and December Breeding Stock Sale.

Tattersalls Tour – £85 per person

Visit one of the most famous bloodstock auction houses in the world, Tattersalls. Start your day with a guided tour of Newmarket Gallops, then head to a busy trainer’s yard and follow this with a trip to the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art for a tour and lunch. Then head to Tattersalls for a look behind-the-scenes, and to witness the excitement as horses are bid on for thousands of Guineas.

Discover Newmarket Feature Tour To Luca Cumani’s Racing Stables – £90 per person

Experience the world famous Newmarket Gallops and see some of the town’s 3,000 racehorses exercising, get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Luca Cumani’s racing yard and then head to the prestigious member’s only club, The Jockey Club Rooms. Finish your day with a sumptuous three-course lunch at The Packhorse Inn, Moulton

National Stud Tours from £11 per person

Visit the only commercial stud farm in the UK that is open for the public to visit via Discover Newmarket Tours.

90 minutes long, Fri – Sun 11.15am

Short Head Tour – £54 per person

Half-day morning tour where visitors will get to visit the gallops, a trainer’s yard and then travel onto either the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art or The National Stud.

14th and 28th October, 11th November, 8.50am start

Country Mile Tour – £80 per person

A full-day tour showcasing Newmarket’s top attractions including The National Heritage Centre, The National Stud, a trainer’s yard and the gallops.

21st Oct, 18th and 21st Nov, 8.50am start.

Race Day Tour From £130 per person

Heading off to the races? Why not make it even more special with a Race Day Tour so you can get to grips with everything that goes into producing those incredible sporting animals on the track? Start the day with a driven tour of the town, followed by a visit to the National Heritage Centre. Following this you will head up to the Racecourse for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour – see the Weighing Room, Royal Box and Commentators Box as well as head inside the Parade Ring with owners, trainers and jockeys.  Tour includes Premier Enclosure badges for you to enjoy racing after the tour.

Champagne Afternoon Tea & Tour from £29 per person

Learn about the incredible history of The Jockey Club and horseracing through the Rooms Stewards at The Jockey Club Rooms, with a guided viewing of sporting art and memorabilia at the private members club, followed by a Champagne Afternoon Tea.

9th December, 1.45pm start.

Dalham Hall Stud Tour – £95 per person

An exclusive opportunity to visit His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai’s Dalham Hall Stud, Godolphin’s International Headquarters! See the impressive facilities and champion stallions, including Dubawi and New Approach, as well as Golden Horn. Following the tour, enjoy a tour-course lunch at the Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa.
